Born Woman project — or, to offer a second version:
_____ Born Woman project.
The blank is there for you to fill in.
I’ll explain why in a moment—after I tell you a few things about this photographic endeavor.
The concept is simple:
Photoshoots inspired by iconic female characters in cinema—but with a twist.
In Born Woman, the protagonists are women who, for a very significant part of their lives—their first steps in this world and in society—were not allowed to be themselves.
They lived trapped in bodies, clothes, and expectations that didn’t align with how they felt inside.
Social norms, stereotypes, prejudice—and, in most cases, family—stood as barriers on their path to inner peace.
A kind of peace that simply can’t exist if what you feel inside can’t be reflected in the mirror.
I’ve always seen trans women as some of the bravest people alive.
Because they have the strength to defy everything that scares them—and everyone who tries to break them (yes, without the quotation marks).
They choose a path that’s unimaginably difficult—for most of us.
And what’s just as striking is how deeply, radiantly feminine they are.
Femininity is not something you acquire.
You’re born with it—even if you happened to arrive in the world inside a different body.
And that’s where the title of the project comes from: _____ Born Woman.
The blank at the beginning—like I mentioned earlier—is there for you to fill in.
Not for me (in my mind, it’s already filled).
Not for the girls.
Not for anyone else.
It’s for you.
So you can see yourself.
